On the wings of eagles...

“If your eye is generous, your whole being is full of light!” Jesus

We searched for Iberian Imperial Eagles in the Alentejo of southern Portugal, and found this immature, this year’s young, soaring near the nest where it was born. Scripture says that our faith in God will allow us, in the worst of circumstance, to rise up like eagles, and soar on eagles’ wings. Certainly we are inspired by the grace and power of these magnificent birds, and when faced with the troubles of this world, could desire nothing more than that grace and power and the open sky in front of us...unbound...free of whatever troubles us. But I think it is enough to realize that when we look at ourselves with generous, with believing eyes, we can see the eagle within, and the world of troubles becomes our sky, with we navigate with power and grace, soaring where others stumble, inspiring hope, inspiring faith. The eagle is not above it all and free...the eagle is within us and free. That is what the generous eye sees. Happy Sunday!
