“If your eye is generous, your whole being is full of light!” Jesus

There is a reason so many evangelical churches are called the “Lighthouse”...you see them in very city in the US, generally in the suburbs, and general an inter- or non-denominational church...a community church with a strong emphasis on outreach and evangelism. They tend to see themselves as the “light set on a hill” from the parables of Jesus...the opposite of “hiding your light under a bushel” A beacon of safety, a beacon of salvation in a darken world. There are a lot of things I am uncomfortable with in the evangelical church today...expecially the political choices many evengelical christians have made in our current climate...but I have to agree that every christian, every child of the living God, should be a beacon...the light should radiate from us just as it does from a lighthouse...providing hope in a world were hope is often difficult. My hope is that everyone with a truly generous eye and a being full of light would shine all the brighter when those who claim the name of Christ are making political decisions that at least I can not understand. Now is not the time for any of us who are alive in Christ to be hiding our lights. Let the light of the loving Creator shine from you face every day...and this Sunday most of all. Happy Sunday!
